Reclaiming the fishin net is a site specific work that brings beauty and feminin strength into a male dominated industry that is in rapid decline. Coastal myths and legends have cast a shadow over women, portraying them as the bearers of bad luck at sea.
By applying traditional crochet and sowing techniques to abandoned fishing nets I wanted to intertwine and merge the two narratives that have defined our gender roles in Northern Norway for generations.
